'Gravity' Movie Will Pull You In

Ever since it was released in theaters about a month ago, “Gravity,” which stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, has been a tremendous hit.
From the universal praise among film critics to the three consecutive weeks getting the No. 1 spot at the box office, people seem to really enjoy this movie. So does it live up to all of the hype? Well…yeah.
The two lead actors both provide very good performances, Bullock especially. The two of them also have excellent chemistry. And even though this movie is mostly a thriller (and a great one at that), some of the best scenes in the movie were when Clooney and Bullock just talk to each other.
In terms of special effects, the movie has some of the best I’ve ever seen. There wasn’t a second that went by where I didn’t feel that what was going on in front of me was completely real.
For the most part, the story kept my attention. In addition to some awesome, edge-of-your-seat moments, the whole film really had me invested in the characters and what was happening to them.
Some have said that this film is one of the few that’s worth seeing in 3D. And this is definitely true to an extent. At times the film does include some very well-done 3D effects. There was one scene in particular where the 3D was so realistic that I found myself jumping back into my seat multiple times. But despite that, for the most part, the glasses just hurt my eyes. The 3D just isn’t really utilized all that much outside of a few select scenes. So overall, it’s not really worth paying extra for.
I had a few issues with “Gravity,” but there’s no way that I can explain them without spoiling anything. All I can say is that the movie went in some directions that I didn’t expect and just didn’t care for.
But at the end of the day I would still absolutely recommend seeing this movie if you have not already done so. And don’t wait for DVD; definitely go out and see it on the big screen.
