With the fitness craze still going strong, many students make working out at gyms a part of their weekly, even daily routines. Corporate gyms are expensive, but Brookdale has created a way to keep students fit while keeping their wallets happy.
The Brookdale fitness center is located on the Lincroft campus in the new Recreation and Event center. The gym is not only open to students and staff but also to members of the community who can purchase a day pass for just $10 or register for a full year. However any Brookdale student with a valid ID id permitted to use the gym without a fee.
The facility is open Monday to Friday 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
“I work out a lot and sometimes it’s hard to go to the gym at home because I’m at school all day so I want to start going to the one here at Lincroft because it’s very convenient,” said Rodolfo Gonzales, an 18-year-old businessadministration major from Wall.
As well as the indoor track and the multiple different machines available for use, the fitness center offers weekly classes for just a five dollar fee per class or a $30 three-month fee for unlimited classes. Some of the classes include, pilates, yoga, cardio kick, and zumba.
“I think it’s really awesome that Brookdale offers fitness classes for students. It's important for us to be active. I know a lot of people that will definitely enjoy them,” said Elizabeth Kurau, a 19 year-old social work major from Tinton Falls.
