The Brookdale Talent Show and Hurricane Sandy Benefit on Friday, March 1 raised $1,700. The money is going straight to the Sandy Benefit relief. By intermission they raised over $300 not including shirts and snacks that they were selling.
“We sold so many shirts! By the end of the night, we had very few left. Everyone was so supportive and willing to donate their time and money. Everyone that came out was very generous with their donations,” said Megan O’Shea a 20 year-old, Brookdale Communications major from Freehold, who sold shirts all night.
“I thought the show went awesome. The talent was great; each person brought a little something different that made for a phenomenal night. Couldn’t have been happier to help out.” said Chris Heil, a 19- year-old, second-semester Brookdale law major from Manalapan. The talent show idea was Heils’.
“It went very well. There was a lot of energy from the audience, which gave the performers more energy. Of course there were a few glitches but that’s a live show and you have to push right through it,” said stage crew, Brandon Quierriero, a 20 year-old, fifth-semester Brookdale automotive tech major.
“I thought it went pretty good. I’m happy with the turn out. The audience was receptive, enthusiastic, and quiet during the performances,” said Don Tracy, a 20 year-old, fourth semester Brookdale media studies major from Howell.
“It was fantastic, amazing, good music, fun, raised lots of money, and the audience was good!” said performer Rebecca Buhse, a 19-year-old, second-semester Brookdale vet assistant major from Aberdeen.
Most people watched and there were a couple people who really got into the songs. They would clap along or wave their hands along with the songs.
There were 28 performers from poetry reading to skits to singers. There were a few performers with guitars and pianos and some performed twice, singing both covers and original songs. Overall it was a good night, and a lot of money was raised toward a good cause.
