Maynard James Keenan and Crew Release New EP

February 26, 2013 by admin

Following up the 2011 release “Conditions of My Parole,” Maynard James Keenan and his jolly cast of supporting musicians known as Puscifer released their newest offering on Feb. 19.
“Donkey Punch The Night,” is a 7 track EP featuring an interesting choice of covers along with two new original tracks.
Covers include a rendition of Accept’s “Balls to The Wall,” as well as a take on Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
Keenan, most known for his enigmatic role with the band TOOL, has been busy during the band’s seven year hiatus with wine-making out in Arizona, touring with Puscifer, along with the occasional TOOL or A Perfect Circle show, somewhere in between.
The rest of this musical collective includes Matt McJunkins (Ashes Divide, 30 Seconds To Mars,) Jeff Friedl (Devo, Filter,) Carina Round, and Mat Mitchell.
‘Donkey Punch’ is a very enjoyable listen, offering a slight twist on an old classic as well as some new material for all the obsessed TOOL fans (myself included,) who are going into withdrawl waiting for the new release.
Nonetheless, every Puscifer offering in recent years, have turned out to be nothing short of marvelously peculiar. And Keenan, as in all his other musical endeavors, does not fail to disappoint with “Donkey Punch The Night.”
