“People be wise to the power of your lies.”Inkubus Sukkubus, “The Burning Times”   Every day we hear things and whether or not they are true, we tend to believe them.  What we don’t realize is that when we hear them, they had to originate from somewhere.  That entire “he said, she said’ stuff is just another name for gossip.    Gossip is a very dangerous thing.  People lose their jobs or lose out on opportunities over gossip. We need to be careful about both what we say and how we say it.  It’s been said that “possession is nine-tenths of the law.” What it really should say is that interpretation that is nine-tenths of the law.
Just because you may say something like “I’m going to kill you”, totally in jest to the point that you and the person you said that to are laughing, the people next to you make a phone call because they think that you are going to actually kill that person.  Next thing you know you have the local police department banging on your door at three in the morning.   I have said this before and I will say it again.  We aren’t kids anymore.  We are responsible for our actions on a much higher level.  Mommy and daddy can’t protect us anymore.  Be careful of what you do and what you say and to all the new Brookdale students, welcome to a new chapter in your life; College.    If you have any questions, comments or concerns or want to ask a question for a future issue of Counsel Corner, send me an e-mail at
