Thrills And Chills At Six Flags 'Fright Fest'

The leaves are beginning to change and there was a creepy chill starting to fill the air as I drove into Six Flags for opening day of Fright Fest. The park was covered with spider webs,
skeletons, corn stalks, and all things that signify fall has finally arrived and summer is over.

As a guest by day, I was able to experience the usual thrills like riding the newer attractions and feeling like a kid again. The newest addition to the park was the high swings, which was
unfortunately a long wait, but definitely worth it.

The best part however, and something that got me extremely excited for Halloween was the Fright by Night, which began at 6 p.m. As the main fountain turned blood-red the awakening began. Over 150 ghouls wandered out into the grounds of the park. Among them were zombies, clowns, pirates, and tons of other crazy-looking people. Every one of the actors looked awesome. In order to accomplish their frightening
appearance, it took 1,330 ounces of airbrush makeup.

The wandering ghouls led everyone to this year’s "Dead Man's Party." This show is signature to Fright Fest every year and features fun special effects and pyrotechnic features. This year, however, I was able to watch and experience a brand new version of the
show, which featured a new storyline. I did miss the old show from previous years, but the new show really made me want to get up and dance myself.

Among other features of Fright Fest are terror trails and a hayride. As a guest every year it is unfortunate that the terror trails are an added fee, at costs ranging from $8 to $10. Be sure to choose wisely because some lines may be long and one would not want to leave these trails with an unhappy experience.

Also keep in mind, if you are a visitor with children, other child-friendly options are available such as the sea-lion show and a hayride.

As a guest that experienced many thrills throughout the day, I would say that Six Flags is an awesome way to kick off the Halloween season with some screams and a lot of fun!!
