GCC Brings Awareness of Global Issues to BCC

December 1, 2010 by Eaglecorps911

The Global Citizenship Council, led by faculty Thomas Berke, Terry Konn and Howard Miller, posted signs around campus on Nov 11 to kick off International Education Week. Students Jennifer Brennan, Kelsey Brennan, Natalie DeSabato, Tara Hart and friends from the Gender Equity Organization helped plant the signs.
The signs provide global statistics on poverty, hunger, education, homelessness, poor health care and a host of other issues that people around the world face.
The initiative was organized with the hope that as students and community members read the signs they would be enlightened by the statistics and would be compelled to join the efforts across campus to take action and seek ways to help fellow citizens across the globe.
Students Interested in getting involved in global activities may join the Students for Global Citizenship Club.
They may contact Terry Konn at
Meetings are every other Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in MAN 106. Faculty and staff may get involved with the Global Citizenship Council by contacting . For information about the Global Citizenship Project on campus,go to
